NLETC reserves the right to limit the number of attendees from any one agency. This is to provide equitable training thoughout the state.
This course will be eighty hours (80) in length and the emphasis will be on "hands-on" accident investigation. Students will do technical roadway and vehicle and forensic examinations. The physics of vehicle dynamics and occupant kinematics will be studied. the studens will do vehicle speed determinations to include: linear momentum and time/distance calculations and applications. Outside testing projects will be included.
Students are responsible for lodging ($20.00 per night double occupancy) and meals.
Equipment: Pen/Pencil, notebook, .5 mm mechanical pencil, templates, drawing equipment (to include a flex curve and eraser shield), calculator (Texas Instruments TI-30XA or eqivalent), 300' tape measure, 6" or larger locking compass, stop watch, formula book (IPTM formula booklet from Intermediate Crash Investigation),and extra towels if you are staying at NLETC. Optional for the class: a minimum 5 megapixel digital camera and tripod and 1 GB flash drive, video camera.
