Reporting of Continuing Education
The reporting of continuing education has two requirements. One is that the agency must annually submit a report stating the CE for all of its officers. The second component is that the agency must report on each individual officer. These reports must be received by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center no later than December 31 of each calendar year.
An agency is deemed in noncompliance if the agency report is not received by January 7th of the following calendar year.
An individual who fails to meet the CE requirements and does not request a waiver by January 7th for that reporting period, will have his/her certificate suspended until he/she successfully fulfills the CE requirements for that reporting period and provides supporting documentation that complies with this chapter. The report must be submitted to the NLETC along with the re-instatement fee.
With the passage of LB 1241 in April 2022, an officer who retires is not required to obtain the CE requirements during the year in which the retirement became effective.
NOTE: If an officer works at any time during the calendar year, they must complete and report Continuing Education requirements for that year. Officers who retire are not required to obtain the CE requirements during the last year of his/her employment.
Waivers may be requested on behalf of officers who are unable to obtain the CE requirements. Waivers for CE must be submitted no later than January 7th. Waiver Form.
