Admission Criteria
Admission requirements are set by state statute and rule and regulation. Title 79 Chapter 8, beginning in section 005 of The Police Standards Advisory Council rules and regulations contains specific information. You may view these rules and regulations here.
Because of agency demand, no applications for non-law students are currently being accepted.
In general the admission requirements are:
- Age 21 before completion of the training program
- Citizen of the United States
- High School Graduate
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator or chauffer license.
- Able to read, write, and understand the English language at the eleventh grade level as demonstrated by the Test of Adult Basic Education
Possess good character as determined by a thorough background investigation as outlined in Chapter 8.
